Smash Hits Entertainment was founded in 1989 by a Brooklyn Born Entrepreneur named John Brokaw. The Brokaw Family moved out of New York early in John’s life and he found himself moving around frequently as a young child. Eventually, his family settled in Richmond, California. It was in this ethnically diverse city that John was exposed to the popular music cultures of the late 60’s and early 70’s. He grew up loving the music around him and this love was the motivating factor that led him to pursue a career in the music industry.

John’s enthusiasm for music led him to Alan Haymon Entertainment where he earned the role of Transportation captain for the west coast tours. John wound up working under Operations Manager Skip Davis for 12 years from 1989-2002. Working closely with artists like Angelina, Brandy, Baby Face, Brenton Woods, Black Street, Corupt, Mac 10, Coolio, Dazz Band, Destinys Child, Cypress Hill, Confunction, Digital Underground, Gap Band, Ice Cube, Janet Jackson, Keith Sweat, LL Cool J., Mary J. Blige, Monica, Patti Labelle, Miles Davis, Run DMC, SWV, TLC, Queen Latifah, Will Smith, Shia, Silk, Jodeci, Tupac., Celia Cruz, Luis Enrique, El Gran Combo, WilfredoVargas, Flaco Jimenez, Little Joe and Lafamilia,and many many more. After years of involvement with high profile performers, John was able to effectively coordinate his own events and smash hits live was born.shows such as winter wonder jam Ashland Oregon featuring As Yet,Angelina, Nsynk, Pretty Poison, also Funk and Groove New Years Eve Selland arena Fresno ca/featuring Cameo, Midnite star, Barkays, and the Dazz band. Early promotional experience included work with Gents Productions and events such as the Fun in the Sun Car Show/Concert Tour, Back to School Jam, and Modesto Ultimate Car Show/Concert Tour.
